About Me
It’s nice to meet you!
Hi, I’m Joe, and I wear a few different hats, electrical engineer in sales, real estate investor, side hustle experimenter, DIY enthusiast, husband, and lifelong learner. I created this site to share everything I’ve learned (and continue learning) about building wealth, designing a fulfilling life, and helping others unlock financial freedom one small, intentional step at a time.
Where I’m From & Where It All Started
I was born and raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts in the town of Wakefield. I grew up learning the value of hard work, showing up, and giving back to my community. In high school at Wakefield High, I leaned into leadership early, serving on the student council, lead my class as class marshal, and proudly captained our outdoor track team. Those experiences taught me how to take initiative, work as part of a team, and lead by example. These are skills that would follow me through every stage of my life and career.
After graduating high school, I attended the University of Connecticut, where I earned my degree in electrical engineering. Engineering gave me a strong foundation in problem-solving and systems thinking. I liked knowing how things worked and more importantly, how to make them work better.
My Career in Automation & Robotics Engineering
For the last 10 years, I’ve worked in the fast-moving world of automation and robotics technology. I’ve helped companies implement smart systems that reduce errors, improve efficiency, and scale their operations. Whether I’m working with 3D vision systems, robotic arms, or software tools that streamline manufacturing, I’ve always been fascinated by how technology can solve real-world problems.
Working in automation sharpened not only my technical skills but also my ability to communicate, sell ideas, and lead project teams. In many ways, this career shaped how I approach life: logically, creatively, and always with a mindset of continuous improvement.
My Real Estate Investing Journey
In 2018, I bought my first home, and that’s when everything changed.
It wasn’t just a place to live; it was my first real investment. I house hacked the property, renting out part of it to offset my mortgage while learning how real estate worked from the inside out. I handled much of the renovation work myself, making mistakes, learning on the job, and gaining confidence with every project I tackled.
That first house became the foundation for my real estate portfolio. Today, I own three properties, including two long-term rentals that provide steady cash flow and long-term equity. I believe real estate is one of the most powerful vehicles for building wealth, especially when approached with patience, education, and a willingness to get your hands dirty.
My goal isn’t just to invest passively, it’s to understand the process, improve with every purchase, and help others get started on their own real estate journeys.
Hacking Travel with Rewards Points
I’ve always believed that life is meant to be lived and that you don’t need to go broke doing it. One of my favorite strategies is using credit card rewards points to book free or discounted flights and hotel stays. Over the years, I’ve saved thousands of dollars and visited some incredible places, all thanks to learning how to “travel hack” the smart way.
If you’ve ever wanted to explore the world without draining your bank account, I can show you how to build a system that works responsibly, efficiently, and sustainably.
DIY Projects & Getting My Hands Dirty
When I’m not working or investing, you’ll find me in the garage or out in the yard, working on a DIY project. I love building, fixing, and improving things, whether that’s installing new shelving, repairing a car, or transforming a room in my home.
I think there’s something deeply satisfying about doing the work yourself. Not only do you save money, but you also build skills, confidence, and a sense of ownership over your space. DIY isn’t just a hobby for me, it’s part of how I live with intention.
Staying Active & Having Fun
I’m a big believer in keeping life balanced. I stay active through a mix of golf, skiing, pickup basketball, and other seasonal sports. Whether I’m on the slopes, the court, or the fairway, I appreciate the chance to stay healthy, push myself, and connect with others.
Hustle Runs Deep
Over the years, I’ve experimented with a variety of side hustles, each one teaching me valuable lessons in business, time management, and resourcefulness. I’ve:
- Flipped items on Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace
- Tutored students in math and science
- Revised resumes to help others land better jobs
- Detailed cars for extra cash
- And even started a small landscaping business: Clean Cut Lawn Service
These ventures weren’t always glamorous, but they helped me pay off debt, grow my savings, and build the discipline I needed to pursue bigger goals.
Lifelong Learning & Growth
Above all else, I’m a lifelong learner. I constantly read books, attend in-person conferences, seek out mentors, and surround myself with people who challenge and inspire me. I believe that who you spend time with shapes your trajectory and that learning doesn’t stop when formal school ends.
Whether I’m diving into a book on sales, attending a real estate workshop, or talking shop with other investors and engineers, I’m always trying to become 1% better every day.
Life Today
Today, I live in Massachusetts with my amazing wife, not far from where I grew up. We’re building a life that balances financial freedom, family, fun, and meaningful work. I’m passionate about helping others realize that they, too, can take control of their finances and future through real estate, smart habits, and continuous growth.
Whether you’re here to learn about investing, side hustles, financial freedom, or just looking for practical tools to get ahead I’m glad you’re here.
Let’s build something great.
